All 16 volumes in very good, well-preserved condition, especially considering that these are softcover and are 109 years old! Some toning is evident, otherwise very good. WONDERFUL color frontispieces on all and FILLED with photographic illustrations of the BRADY WAR PHOTOGRAPHS. A MUST-HAVE set for all Civil War collectors and enthusiasts!
The hard Cover shows wear and the Edges of the books also show wear from the tie stings that hold all 16 Volumes together

An overlooked compilation of Civil War photos. Many, many Brady photographs along with other noted period photographers.
Excellent narrative to support the photos.
This series came out about prior to the Miller set which became the popular set to own.
Lossing's work is dated to 1895 while Miller's has a 1911/12 publication date.
Nonetheless this 1912 Lossing work stands by itself. It is in 16 parts, each a wrapper offering, all encased in a tie-type binder.
The parts are near fine, the binder did its job in protecting the parts and is just Good.
If interested in Civil War photography, this is a must have set.
What makes this set extra special are the colored plates in each of the 16 issues. (See one in pictures).
